Here are four silly little examples:
1.
My dear friend Jade is definitely one of the bests I've ever had. She is so generous and encouraging (probably more so than I really know how to handle). The more I get to know her heart the more intrigued I am. You see, she came into my life at one of those really awkward stages, and she stuck around. Our entire friendship is through ridiculous amounts of technology. If it weren't for Facebook and text messaging I cannot say she would really be in my life. She has lived in California for years. She has a husband and family of her own. She is a very dedicated and wonderful stay-at-home mom. Jade is very self-less, and it's so wonderfully comforting to have a friend like her. She is constantly concerned with my heart and she supports every little thing I do. I find myself striving to be a better friend and wanting to spoil her children rotten. She has been a huge blessing in my life. I would just love to bless those around me the way she does on a daily basis.2.
While on campus yesterday I ran into an old friend. I guess you can call him a friend. He was just a friend's roommate that eventually became someone I ran into often, on and off campus, during my college years. We never really spent a lot of time together, actually I'm pretty sure we never hung out. We would just say hello in passing and I would occasionally throw treats at him as if he was my personal garbage disposal. He would move furniture for me with a moment's notice. He was one of those safety acquaintances, and always a friendly face. He recognized me while I was on the campus tour, he smiled real big and we both exchanged "It's so good to see you" moments. I had to leave quickly because I was a few steps behind the tour and needed to stay with O'Leesa. Upon finishing the tour I realized how genuinely glad I was to run into Ethan. He was a friendly face when I was going through a lot. He was someone I really counted on for a hello a few years ago. You see, I had really alienated myself from my roommate and hallmates when I met Ethan. I was battling some pretty severe "heart/soul" issues and more than ever I needed those comforting acquaintances. For me, Ethan was that genuinely generous person and I am so thankful to have met him in that trying time. God was so good when I was going through so much, and it's crazy how long it took for me to realize just how good He is.3.
You know those kind of friends that show up in your life all the time? The kind that other people assume annoy you? The ones that show up and hangout with your parents even when you're not around? Yeah, I have one of those! His name is Boom. He is just about the most genuine person I have ever met. He is insanely supportive of my music, considering how scattered-brained and nervous I am when it comes to really pursuing it. He shows up to practically every other show with a small entourage in tow. (Normally, his family and best friend, but still.... MOST visibly supportive friend award). I cannot even begin to comprehend how blessed I have been to know that kid.4.
Last, but certainly not least... my sister. This week I received the most beautifully written card from my little hippie, anchor-loving sister. You have to understand that growing up we got along on very rare occasions. We mostly bonded over mutual dislike for random people (terrible teachers, annoying family, etc). However, lately we have thoroughly enjoyed our time together. When I received her card I made my friend Amanda read it just to make sure I was not imagining something completely bizarre. It was such an encouraging note and it was so nice. Morgan has really come into her own in the past year, and I am so honored and blessed to be her sister._______________________________________________________________________
God has blessed me with the best of friends and acquaintances. Seriously, I am in awe of the ridiculous amounts of blessings poured out on my life.
